1) What CPU do you recommend? Intel multi-core,
usually you have less troubles with IRQ conflicts, because such CPU can
work in SMP APIC mode (more than 16 IRQ available)
3) All users are registered at ecomstation.com,
not all are using Software Subscription on eComStation.
How to check is it activated or not? If you can
login to Mensys.nl ->
Log In -> Downloads -> Software Subscription -> and download files,
then your subscription works fine.
If you paid for SSS but can't login then contact your reseller
and make him resolve the problem.
4) It's not enough to read eCS news and buy software,
the users must write reviews of the OS and applications.
Any official text/ review - is an advertisement.
Your independent point of view is the only way to
attract new users to the system.
5) After eComStation install it is recommended
install eCo Market catalogue -
we expect load it with additional packages so you get access to 200

NetRexx, a variant of the
Rexx script language,
developed by IBM, has been made open source software under the aegis
of the Rexx Language Association (RexxLA).
The first indication that the language was to be made open source came in February, but now the process has been completed.
NetRexx adds some object-oriented techniques to the Rexx language.
It is compiled as Java byte code and then runs on practically any
JVM, even on Google Android's
Dalvik VM. NetRexx was developed in the mid-1990s; Rexx itself was created at the end of the 1970s and became popular at the beginning of the 1980s on OS/2 and Amiga in particular.
RexxLA says the language is to be published under the
ICU licence,
a variant based on the MIT license.
Rene Vincent Jansen, president of the Rexx Language Association, hopes that new perspectives will open up for NetRexx as it becomes a much more widely used language under an open source licence (IBM speaks of an "effective alternative to the Java language" in its documentation).

Current version of eComStation 2.1 is available on english and german
languages. What is the demand on other NLV versions?
Do you need more versions of eComStation?

Russian eComStation 2.1 (2.0) is not ready for release.
- Work on eComStation/Rus 2.1 / 2.0 is suspended.
The status of the project may change in the august of 2011.
- We have started reserve project in june of 2011.
You need fresh eComStation 2.1 installation,
Language Switch (AKA "eCS OVER") copies russian files over english files.
We are going start testing of the package in june of 2011.
ATTENTION: We are interested collaborate with other translators of eComStation
(spanish, swedish, ..)
Recommendations for companies and users:
- Create two partitions on harddrive,
install eComStation 2.1 to the 1-st partition, keep the 2-nd
for future russian version.
- You can get the knowledge from

If eComStation PC doesn't work properly (USB troubles / network is
slow / can't run with 2 CPUs / applications crash) then make
some efforts, analyze the problems and setup the system.
Usually the problems occur because of IRQ conflicts.

As peoples hard drives get larger, it becomes more of a hassle to find things,
and after time you just forget where those pictures are that you need to
delete before the wife finds them (ya, you know the ones). While
eComStation does have a search program called PMSEEK 2.0, it is
very long in the tooth and limited in what it can do.
SearchPlus locates files and or directories quickly by searching multiple
locations simultaneously by using parallel processing thus avoiding time
consuming sequential searches. SearchPlus is a native eComStation program
that brings the eCS search function, if not to the future, to the present
in terms of it's power.
This review puts SearchPlus and PMSEEK head to head, see if you should
download SearchPlus or keep with what comes with eCS.

Some modern motherboards/notebooks are using EFI instead of BIOS
(What is UEFI).
You can find more and more articles that Hardware Manufacturers are going
drop the support of BIOS and switch to EFI.
We are monitoring this topic since ~ 2005. Discussions:
Short conclusion:
- There are more actual tasks today.
- The manufacturers of motherboards are interested
to keep compatibility with previous version of Windows OS.
That's why EFI to emulate normal BIOS during several years.
- Seems that the users are installing eComStation to
motherboards with UEFI already (2011), no barriers.
Participation of standalone developers:
- You can try to run eComStation on Macintosh computers.
Make experiments with eComStation installatin CD.
The boot stops at message related to "A20 gate" (?)
- or publish an article: plan of work how to implement full support of
UEFI in eComStation.
