ACPI driver 1.0.7

2005-07-03 20:42:51 -- Eugene Gorbunoff [ecomstation.ru]

Updated ACPI driver for eComStation is available for "inhabitants" of the eComStation beta-zone. Read the scenario of testing in ACPI.doc (testing the event of Power button).

"The ability to support ACPI is becoming more and more important in order to take advantage of new power management capabilities, or even to support the operating system on newer hardware. Therefore, support for this technology will be an important feature to many users in the new version of eComStation." (PDF, HTML)

You can access the beta-zone via betazone.ecomstation.nl or www.ecomstation.com, [Log In], Access the BetaZone (if you get error related to password then edit your password via Profile and try again)

The ACPI driver is a product of Netlabs (http://www.netlabs.org/)

Request for testers with USB Scanners

2005-07-01 20:48:14 -- Eugene Gorbunoff [VOICENWS, Paul Smedley]

I've started work to make Sane work with USB Scanners on OS/2 using the usbcalls package by Markus Montkowski available from Netlabs.

As a precursor, I've compiled sane-find-scanner.exe which correctly identified the scanner on my machine.

I'd appreciate it if testers with a USB scanner would download this file and send me the report from running: sane-find-scanner -v

Note that this may require a newer version of usbresmg.sys than eCS 1.2 ships with. I had system traps with gPhoto2.

If traps in os2krnl are experienced with this build, please update usbresmg.sys using this package.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

NOTE: this will not scan - all it will do is detect (hopefully!) a USB scanner attached to your PC.

Week of laser printers

2005-05-17 09:48:55 -- Eugene Gorbunoff [ecomstation.ru]

The twentieth week of 2005 is dedicated to collection of info about compatible/non-compatible laser printers. Our database contains 34 records only... Major part of the models are not produced anymore. Post new reports using the web-form.

Moreover, we invite you send us logs of eCS installer. If sound/network card was not detected by the eCS 1.2 installer, then send instlog.zip file (\var\log) to support (at) ecomstation.com

P.S. The full list of officially supported printers contains more that 1200 models (IBM Printer Pak).

Week of DVD devices

2005-05-01 14:04:53 -- Eugene Gorbunoff [ecomstation.ru]

Pay attention to useful drivers

2005-04-23 00:11:54 -- Eugene Gorbunoff [ecomstation.ru]

We would like to call attention of users and developers to 2 new drivers:

  • USB 1.1 Expanded Control Driver allows directly control classless usb devices attached to an OS/2 system. Has been specifically designed to ease the development and test of simple homemade usb devices under OS/2. Uses standard/vendor control transfers and data (bulk/interrupt) transfers. Made in Holland by Wim Brul. eCo Software thanks Wim for attentive and detailed support and implementation of bulk/interrupt transfers!
Coolfm now supports additional hardware thanks to this driver: AVerMedia USB Radio, Model MR-800 and Mediaforte RadioXTreme USB Radio, Model: FMU-100.
    USBECD homepage -- http://home.hccnet.nl/w.m.brul
  • Driver for USB-tablets. It supports Intuos 2 model now. Join testing of Wacom (FAVO) Graphire 2 and 3, Wacom Volito, Cintiq tablets. Every modern computer designer uses tablets.. only one graphics editor for eCS supports this kind of hardware - QueenCy (receives information about strength of pressure, pen pitch).
