Netgear Readynas RND4000 (NV+)

Mark: Good

(This report is prepared by ecomstation.ru scout), source of information: Arthur

I have a netgear readynas RND4000 (NV+) which works with eCS 2.0 This is a NAS that can contain up to 4 disks. The great part about this NAS is that it takes care of configuration for you. When you insert 2 disks it will configure itself as raid 0 (mirror) the minute you add a third or fourth hd it will configure itself as raid 5. You eventually can configure it as raid 5 with one hot spare. It can take some time until reconfiguration is finished but it does it in the background where you can still access your data.

They also have a NAS for two disks at Netgear if four is a little to much for you.

If the cost are to high to buy a complete NAS you might look into freenas where you can use a normal pc as it were a NAS. As far as I know freenas also support cifs, if so you should be able to access this from within eCS. Don't know if configuration is as easy as the readynas but if you have an old pc somewhere you only have to add a buch of harddisk and download freenas.
