GigaByte GA-MA78GM-S2H (Quad-Core)
Mark: Bad
You can't boot to SMP with ACPI driver..
here some information about an installation attempt, which failed more
ore less. My system is based on a new GigaByte GA-MA78GM-S2H containing
8 GB RAM, AMD Quad-Core 9550 chip and onboard graphic, sound and network.
Actually I did an extended installation. The system did not find any
sound chip - but I tried to use the ALSA compatible driver - but that
does not lead to a working sound.
The system selected the SNAP drivers and it went through Reboot 1, 2 and
actually it also started. What I found strange, that it took a very long
time (60 seconds ?) before the first welcome screen appeared on the
screen (and JFS said Hello).
The system came up after installation but with not working sound
(actually there was sound - the welcome sound, but actually the sound
seemed to be looped).
I had no network ? Though it said, that it had recognized the chipset -
but it seems, that it does recognised the wrong one. The onboard one was
Realtek 8111C.
Then I changed the kernel to SMP tried to reboot and it did not start
any more.
